How long does it take to build a new home in Raleigh?
We’ve streamlined the build-on-your-lot home construction process, designing and building homes in a matter of months, not years. Most clients spend about 2 months designing their home with us. After the design is complete, most projects take 1 month for permitting and preparation, and 6 months for construction. An overall total of 9 months is common. However, adding more custom features and making specialty selections will make the process a little longer.

Your Dream Home in 6 Easy Steps

Step 1: Visit. At our first meeting, we take the time to understand your goals and personal style. You’ll have a chance to get to know our work by touring our homes in person and virtually. Your Copper Builders team will ask about your budget and financing, timeline, and what features you’d like to have in your new home. If you have inspiration photos or home plans you love, please bring them with you.

Step 2: Homesite. You’ll need to finalize a homesite before we can determine your home’s floor plan and exact cost. We provide a complimentary site visit to review the topography, utilities, cost of permits, placement, and size restrictions. Receive a realistic assessment of what you’ll be able to achieve within your budget.

Step 3: House Plan. Most clients start with one of our popular plans to save time, energy and architect’s fees. You can move walls to adjust room sizes or make major changes to the layout. It’s difficult to visualize a home from a floor plan - so we might arrange an in-person tour of a home we’ve built, or take you on a virtual walk-through using video and photos.
If none of our floor plans are a good fit, we work with trusted architects to design your home from the ground up. Are you in the process of working with an architect? Involving your builder during the design phase makes sure your home is designed for a cost-efficient construction process.

Step 4: Design. The design phase is the most fun part of building a home! It’s time to get into the details - from surface textures to grout colors and cabinet knobs. Bring your inspiration photos, and make a list of your favorites and must-haves; your designer will use it to find similar products through our vendor relationships. Using our CoConstruct software, we’ll track your selections to keep you on budget, and make sure your allowances are used effectively.

Step 5: Build. Watch your dream home take shape while Copper Builders does the hard work! With our innovative CoConstruct system, you’ll have any questions answered quickly, feel confident that selections are properly noted, and receive regular updates and progress photos. With all your selections chosen ahead of time construction is fun and stress free.
