copper builders home for sale sign

The decision to build a new home in Charlotte is laden with feelings of excitement and possibility. After all, you are creating a one-of-a-kind space that will perfectly suit the needs of you and your family for years to come. Every detail that goes into your home – from the cabinet selections to the flooring – is brand new and selected by you.

That decision comes with lots of choices – the most important of which is where to build. Fortunately, you have great options — particularly if you are considering building a new home in the greater Charlotte area. Many top neighborhoods have unique home sites that are available for purchase so that you can build a custom home, or you can look into the many new home communities that dot the area and choose from a floor plan as a starting point.

Let’s take a look at the differences between building on your lot or in a community so that you have all the information you need to make the best decision for you.

Building On Your Lot

You Own the Land

Whether your land has been passed down from family, or you purchased it because of its perfect location, we understand how much it means to you. With a custom home built on your land, you choose the site, and then we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll do an initial evaluation, survey, and sitework to make sure we build a home perfectly suited to your property.

Longer Build-to-Move-In Timeline

Mom always said that good things come to those who wait. In this case, you get a dream home in your ideal location, and we think that’s worth just a few more weeks of waiting. Depending on the condition of your land, site development work will need to be completed before construction can begin. We’ll make sure your land is cleared, graded, and prepared, and secure all local building permits and licenses to do so.

More Flexibility

Each of our floor plans has been architecturally drafted and structurally engineered with low maintenance and high efficiency in mind. But we know that the orientation of your land and personal preferences may call for adjustments. We’re happy to make modifications like adding porch extensions and personalizing design features, or if we need to start from scratch and design an entire new plan to fit the land, we can do that!

Choose Your Surroundings

Neighbors or no neighbors? Heavily wooded or level grass? The possibilities are endless when you choose the land you’re building on. One thing is for sure — you’ll wake up each morning loving where you live, both indoors and out.

Buying or Building in a New Home Community

The Builder Owns the Land

The land is already prepped before you sign a contract and construction on your new home can begin immediately.

Quicker Move-In Timeline

Many communities have move-in ready homes, which means the home is completely built before it is sold, with features and finishes that appeal to a wide audience. With move-in ready homes, there’s no wait from the time of closing to move-in, so you get to start enjoying your new home sooner.

Community Amenities

Many new home communities offer on-site amenities such as a clubhouse, fitness center, pool, or playground, which is a convenient option for those with busy schedules or children to consider.

Close to Neighbors

Neighbors are just steps away, so it’s easy to make new friends and acquaintances and feel as though you are instantly part of a neighborhood.

Location

New home communities are often located close to conveniences such as fitness centers, grocery stores, medical facilities, shopping centers, and restaurants. You’ll never have to travel far for essential goods and services.

Whether you choose to build on your lot or in a community comes down to personal preference and how you envision life in your new home. If you decide that you’d like to live on land that you’ve personally selected or in a community, Copper Builders would be honored to be your building partner.
